Wading In Vain

Wading in Vain merges iconic images of Busby Berkely’s Footlight Parade (1933) with modern flair through feedback loops and kaleidoscopic effects. This piece showcases monochrome “Bathing Beauties” fading into vibrant feedback loops, symbolizing fleeting fame and beauty, while challenging the male gaze of classic Hollywood. Crafted using Final Cut, Resolume, and a 1990s Panasonic AV mixer, the piece invites viewers to reflect on the dynamic between past and present. It offers commentary on beauty standards by merging old cinema with contemporary digital manipulation. Wading in Vain presents a narrative of beauty, nostalgia, and introspection in a mesmerizing blend of visual elements.
